Watch: Waterspouts along Pinellas beaches caught on video

Tampa Bay Times news partner Spectrum Bay News 9 tweeted out video submitted by viewers of waterspouts that formed Wednesday off the Pinellas beaches.

Small patches of severe thunderstorms came through Pinellas County starting around the time of the morning commute. The storms, which continued into the afternoon, got at least a couple of waterspouts twirling in the waters in the area of Madeira Beach and Redington Beach.

The waterspouts didn’t cause any major damage other than tossing around some chairs on pool decks along the shore.

Once waterspouts come ashore, they officially become tornadoes, though they often dissipate quickly.
