Watch out Wichita: The headless horseman will ride this weekend

Wichita fun-seekers will have no problem finding Halloween activities around town this weekend, including the annual Hay, Hooves and Halloween event at Old Cowtown Museum.

But they can also go to a German car show or catch a musical recreation of the Eagles’ “Hotel California” album.

Here are some of the best bets for fun in Wichita over the weekend of Oct. 20-22.

Hay, Hooves and Halloween

2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Old Cowtown Museum, 1865 W. Museum Blvd.

Wichita’s Old Cowtown Museum is celebrating Halloween with the return of its annual event Hay, Hooves and Halloween. It runs from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and will feature the headless horseman of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” coming to life and riding through Cowtown chasing Ichabod Crane. Visitors also will see zombie cowboys engaged in an undead gunfight, ghost hauntings and more. Costumes are encouraged, and candy will be distributed. Admission is $8, free for kids ages 4 and under and for members. Cowtown’s usual free Sunday admission policy will not apply for the event.

Bug-O-Rama ICT

8-5 p.m. Saturday, Sedgwick County Park, 6501 W. 21st St.

A big German car show that is sure to feature a whole bunch of Volkswagen Beetles happens from 8 to 5 p.m. on Saturday at Sedgwick County Park, and members of the public can attend for free. The 14th annual Bug-O-Rama event, which is also open to leashed pets, will feature an all German car show, food trucks, vendors and live entertainment from the band Artifact. ‘Hotel California’ live

8 p.m. Friday, Orpheum Theatre, 200 N. Broadway

Fans of the Eagles’ classic album “Hotel California” can reminisce at a show by The Black Jacket Symphony scheduled for Friday at the Orpheum Theatre in Wichita. The band, known for bringing favorite classic rock records to life, will recreate the 1976 album note-for-note and will also play other famous Eagles’ hits. Kevin Gates at The Cotillion

8 p.m. Friday, the Cotillion, 11120 W. Kellogg

Rapper Kevin Gates, a Louisiana native whose career got started with the release of several popular mixtapes, will bring his Only The Generals tour to the Cotillion on Friday. Doors to the show open at 7 p.m., and the show will start at 8 p.m. with opening act BigXthaPlug. Tickets to the show are $79.50 in advance, and several levels of VIP packages are available at thecotillion.com

Candy Crawl

6-8 p.m. Saturday, Clapp Park, 4611 E. Harry

Kids can get some trick-or-treat practice on Saturday when Clapp Park puts on a Candy Crawl. The event lasts from 6 to 8 p.m., and admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to dress up and bring their candy buckets, and they’ll be directed on a one-way route through the park, where they can stop at various vendor booths to pick up treats. The event is being put on by Wichita Park & Recreation. Admission is free.

Sandy White Celebration of Life

2-8 p.m. Sunday, Jerry’s, 630 N. Robin Road

Friends and fans of Sandy White, the longtime Wichita DJ and voice of Spangles commercials who died in August, are getting together at Jerry’s on Sunday for a musical celebration of life. The event will last from 2 to 8 p.m. and will include music by acoustic duos Dangie and JunkMale as well as performances by bands Delano Drive, Sleepy Truckers and White’s former band Ten Day Wish. There’s no set admission, but the bar will collect donations at the door.
