Water cannon at Italian anti-Green Pass protest

On October 15 the Italian government made the use of COVID-19 health passes, or Green Pass, mandatory for all workers in a test case for Europe.

Port workers gathered outside the port of Trieste to demonstrate against its use, saying it was a violation of their human rights. A group of protesters has remained outside the port since last Friday (October 15).

So far the entrance to the port has not been blocked but police in the morning tried to move the protesters away sparking a stand-off.

Water cannon and tear gas were used in an effort to disperse the protesters who then moved towards the centre of the town.
