Another day of partial closure for Petersburg's Sycamore Street as line work continues

PETERSBURG — Partial closure of South Sycamore Street through the Walnut Hill area will continue into Friday as crews repair water lines beneath the streets, the city announced Thursday.

Petersburg closed Sycamore between Claremont and Weyanoke streets at 7:30 a.m. Thursday for the work to begin. City spokesperson Joanne Williams said in a statement that portion of the street will close again at 7:30 a.m. Friday, but the repairs are expected to be complete by day's end

Water line repairs on South Sycamore Street, between Claremont and Weyanoke Streets will continue on Friday, December 3. South Sycamore Street will be closed beginning at 7:30am. Residents in the area can expect low water pressure during the day. Repair work should be completed by the end of the day.

The same detours from Thursday will be in place Friday. Motorists will be directed around the construction area via Fairfax or Monticello streets.

Just like on Thursday, residents in the immediate area should expect water pressure to be lower than normal Friday..
