Water main flushing planned in Muncie, Winchester service areas

MUNCIE, Ind. — Indiana American Water will conduct water main flushing in the Muncie service area beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and continuing through Friday, Oct. 27.

Water main flushing in the Winchester service area is also planned from Tuesday, Sept. 5, and continuing through Friday, Oct. 13.

The company conducts the annual maintenance program "to assure high-quality water service and to ensure fire hydrants are operational," according to a release.

No interruptions in water service are anticipated as a result of the work. Customers may experience a slight drop in water pressure or temporary water discoloration while this program is underway. Customers should refrain from doing laundry during the time of day the flushing program is taking place in or near their neighborhood.

If tap water is discolored, Indiana American Water recommends allowing several cold-water faucets to run for a short time until the water runs clear. Using more than one faucet allows the water to clear more quickly.

Retired Muncie attorney honored

MUNCIE, Ind. — The 2023 Greater Muncie Chamber of Commerce Legacy Gala held last week at the Horizon Convention Center honored Jon H. Moll, retired local attorney.

The Greater Muncie Chamber of Commerce Legacy Award is presented annually to an individual or individuals who"made extraordinary, sustained, and positive contributions to the Muncie-Delaware County community at large, and who has provided leadership in the development of programs, events, and/or new traditions that promote goodwill and community pride," according to a release.

Nicholas Tokar, chairman of the Greater Muncie Chamber of Commerce's board of directors, presented the award to Moll.

Delaware County Road 1200-N closed

MUNCIE, Ind. — Delaware County Road `1200-N will be closed between Ind. 3 and Walnut Street in Union Township "until further notice for box culvert repairs," according to a release from the Delaware County Engineering Department.
