New water payment plan option available to New Orleans residents

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans has partnered with tech company Promise to offer a new payment plan option to customers.

SWBNO officials said Promise is a tech company that works with government agencies to develop the best way for customers to pay their past-due balances.

According to the SWBNO, the partnership will allow customers to set up interest-free payments through PromisePay. The new program is available to customers, property owners and tenants who have a past-due bill of $50 or more.

The partnership is said to also protect customers who stay up to date with their plan from penalties, fees and water disconnections.

SWBNO officials said the PromisePay Portal provides:

  • Options to enroll in payment plans online, by mobile phone or call center

  • Convenient payment types including credit or debit cards, ACH, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

  • Text reminders and notifications

  • Payment flexibility and plan management with options to request allowable extensions, modify due dates, and change payment methods
