Waterford crash sends two to hospital

Nov. 9—WATERFORD — A two-car car accident Tuesday afternoon in the area of 969 Hartford Turnpike — the Henny Penny on Route 85 — sent both drivers to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, according to Waterford Police Lt. David Ferland.

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. but the roadway was still closed shortly before 8 p.m., Ferland said. He said it was a head-on collision but not directly, and police are still trying to figure out why one car was in the wrong lane.

He said members of the accident reconstruction team are still on-scene investigating, and East Lyme police are assisting.

Ferland said any witnesses could contact him at dferland@waterfordct.org or (860) 442-9451.
