Watershed group's South Shore Striper Tournament to be held June 10-12

NORWELL – The North and South Rivers Watershed Association will host the South Shore Striper Tournament from Friday, June 10, through Sunday, June 12.

The tournament starts at 5 p.m. June 10.

Prizes and $3,000 in cash will be awarded to winning anglers.

The competition will take place in five categories: adult boat angler, child 12 and younger boat angler, adult shore angler, child 12 and younger shore angler and all ages shore fly fishing.

The registration fee is $70 for adults, $35 for children 12 and younger. Participants will receive a custom tournament neck gaiter. Register online at nsrwa.org.

The judging of fish caught will be based on overall length. This is a catch-and-release tournament.

The geographic area for the tournament is Massachusetts Bay, from the northern point of Nahant to Race Point in Provincetown, and from the South Shore coast east to Cape Cod. No fish caught west of the breakwater of the Sandwich end of the Cape Cod Canal will be eligible.

Participants can pick up a tournament packet from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 10 and 8 a.m. to noon June 11 at Belsan's Bait and Tackle, 50 New Driftway in Scituate.

The North and South Rivers Watershed Association Inc. is a nonprofit, grassroots environmental organization founded in 1970. Its mission is to preserve, restore, maintain and conserve in their natural state the waters and related natural resources within the watershed.
