Watertown, Aberdeen Central boys and girls wrestlers record ESD wins

Watertown's boys and girls wrestlers each took care of their Huron counterparts in Eastern South Dakota Conference wrestling duals Thursday night in the Watertown Civic Arena.

The Arrow boys improved to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the ESD with a 66-10 win over Huron. The Arrow girls opened the night with a 30-12 win over Huron.

Watertown won 12 of 14 matches in the boys' dual, getting pins from Leo Stroup (113 pounds), Sloan Johannsen (120), Weston Everson (126), Derek Hanson (138), Jax Kettwig (170), Brock Eitreim (195), Matthew Peters (220) and Micah Hach (285).

Gage Lohr won by technical fall at 106, Braden Le by major decision at 132, Ian Johnson by decision at 152 and Jackson Maag by forfeit at 182.

Olivia Anderson won by fall at 106 for Watertown's girls, who also got forfeit wins from Hayden Thomas at 120, April Peterson at 154, Allison Konrad at 190 and Hope Orr at 285.

Watertown's boys and girls are scheduled to compete in the Yankton Invitational on Saturday.

Aberdeen Central vs. Brookings

BROOKINGS — Aberdeen Central won six consecutive matches from 132 to 170 pounds on the way to posting a 40-16 Eastern South Dakota Conference boys' dual win over Brookings on Thursday.

The Golden Eagles improved to 14-7 overall and 5-2 in the ESD with falls from Ridley Waldo at 120, Mason Schrempp at 145, Elias Biegler at 152 and Jacob Krenz at 285; a major decision from Brody Aesoph at 138 and decisions from Porter Lozenski at 113, Tate Huff at 132, Logan Opitz at 160 and Ayden Gisi at 170.

Aberdeen Central also won the girls' dual 30-22 with pins from Ula Martin at 126, Jasmine Maas at 132 and Katrina Gibson at 154 and forfeit wins from Madyson Gillen at 113 and Autumn Gauer at 285.

The Golden Eagle wrestlers are scheduled to visit Pierre for another ESD dual on Thursday.

North-South Double Dual

DELL RAPIDS — Milbank went 2-0 and Webster Area 1-1 in duals against Lennox and Dell Rapids on Thursday.

The Bulldogs topped Lennox 40-36 and Dell Rapids 42-36. Webster Area downed Lennox 40-33 and lost to Dell Rapids 40-30.

Zachary Karges (120), Nollen Sheeley (152), Reese Rabe (160), Barrett Schneck (170), Jesse Schneck (195) and Landon Novy (285) each won twice for Milbank.

Tacey Miller (113), Haeden Jorgenson (132), Gage Baumgarn (145) and Isaac Nelson (160) each went 2-0 for Webster Area.

Clark-Willow Lake Quad

CLARK — Host Clark-Willow Lake went 2-1 in a high school wrestling quadrangular on Thursday.

The Cyclones beat Sioux Valley 30-24 and Flandreau 27-6 and fell to McCook Central-Montrose 65-9. Cooper Pommer went 3-0 at 106/113 pounds.

Sioux Valley also lost to Flandreau 24-18 and McCook Central-Montrose 67-10. Wyatt Hardt went 3-0 at 145 for the Cossacks.

Miller/Highmore-Harrold Duals

MILLER — Redfield suffered losses to Canton 49-21, Miller/Highmore-Har4rold 36-27 and Wessington Springs-Woonsocket/Wolsey_Wessington 49-30 in a high school wresting quadrangular on Thursday.

Brady Risetter (106) Mason Whitley (160) and Grady Fey (285) each went 3-0 for the Pheasants.

Lake Region Conference

WARNER — Faulkton Area topped Warner-Northwestern 45-18 and Ipswich-Bowdle 36-18 to win the Lake Region Conference tournament on Thursday.

Warner-Northwestern edged Ipswich-Bowdle 25-24 in the other dual.

Sean Roseland (106), Cash Edgar (113), Carter Schulte (126), Garrett Cramer (145-152), Drake Moeller (170) and Lincoln Dikoff each won twice for Faulkton Area.

Clayton Dulaney (138), Alex Pudwill (170) and Preston Cavalier (220) were each 2-0 for Warner-Northwestern as were Brady Unser (120), Justin Rohrbach (182) and Lucas Rowland (285) for Ipswich-Bowdle.
