Watertown, Aberdeen teams set to play in state Class A Baseball tourneys
Four Watertown teams and three from Aberdeen are set to play this week in Class A Baseball state tournaments around the state.
The Class A Baseball tournaments include 16-and-Under, which runs Thursday though Sunday at Foundation Fields and Watertown Stadium in Watertown.
Other tourneys which also also run Thursday through Sunday include 14-and-under at Pierre and 13-and-under at Brookings. The 13/14-and-under tourney runs Friday through Sunday at Harrisburg.
Also listed below are the pairings for the state Class A and B American Legion Baseball Tournaments. The A tourney opens Wednesday at Rapid City and the B tourney Friday at Gregory.
16-and-Under
The Watertown Red Sox (5-33-1) are among the 12 teams who are divided into three four-team pools. The pool winners and a wild-card team will advance to the semifinals at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, followed by the championship at 3:30 p.m. at the stadium.
Pool A includes Watertown, Huron, Renner and Sioux Falls West. Pool B features Brandon Valley, Harrisburg Maroon, Rapid City Post 22 and Yankton. Pool C has Brookings, Harrisburg Gold, Pierre and Sioux Falls East.
The Red Sox play all three of their pool-play games at the stadium, facing Sioux Falls West at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Renner at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Huron at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

14-and-Under
The Watertown Black Sox (26-16) and Aberdeen (14-9) are two of the 14 teams in the tourney, which includes two four-team and two three-team pools. The pool champions advance to Sunday's semifinals at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by the 3:30 championship at Hyde Stadium.
Watertown is in the Red Pool along with Brookings and Renner. The Black Sox play Brookings at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and Rapid City Post 320 at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Hyde Stadium and also will meet Renner at noon Saturday at Kelley Field.
Aberdeen is in the Blue Pool with Brandon Valley, Harrisburg and Sioux Falls West Red. Aberdeen meets Harrisburg at 4 p.m. Thursday at Kelley Field and will take on Sioux Falls West Red at 1 p.m. Friday and Brandon Valley at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hyde Stadium.

13-and-Under
The Watertown Grey Sox (30-7) and Aberdeen (9-13) are two of the 12 teams which will play at Bob Shelden Field and Erv Huether Field. The teams are split in three four-team pools, which the pool winners and a wild-card team advancing to Sunday at Bob Shelden Field. Semifinal games are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by the championship at 3:30 p.m.
The Grey Sox are in the Red Pool with Huron, Mitchell and Yankton. Watertown faces Yankton at 5 p.m. Thursday and Huron at noon Friday at Bob Shelden FIeld and also will take on Mitchell at 10 a.m. Saturday at Erv Huether Field.
Aberdeen is in the White Pool with Harrisburg Maroon, Pierre and Renner. Aberdeen meets Renner at noon Thursday and Harrisburg Maroon at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Bob Shelden Field and also will battle Pierre at 10 a.m. Friday at Erv Huether Field.

13/14-and-Under
The Watertown White Sox (8-17) and Aberdeen (record not available) are two of the seven teams set to play in the tourney at Dakota Access Field.
Watertown is in the Red Pool with Harrisburg, Sioux Falls Post 15 at Yankton and Aberdeen is in the White Pool along with Brandon Valley and Renner. Placement games will follow on Sunday.
The White Sox are scheduled for face Yankton at 5 p.m. on Friday. The loser plays at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and the winner at 6 p.m.
Aberdeen is scheduled to play Brandon Valley at 10:30 a.m. and Renner at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

State Legion Baseball Pairings
Pairings have been set for the American Legion baseball state tournaments.
The Class A double-elimination tournament runs Wednesday through Sunday at Fitzgerald Stadium in Rapid City. First-round pairings follow.
10 a.m.: Brookings (29-11-1) vs. Pierre (19-20)
12:30 p.m.: Mitchell (25-30) vs. Rapid City Post 320 (33-16)
4 p.m.: Brandon Valley (28-13) vs. Sioux Falls East (32-13)
7 p.m.: Harrisburg (17-15) vs. Rapid City Post 22 (36-23)
Watertown Post 17 and the Aberdeen Smittys did not qualify for the state tournament. Watertown lost 11-1 and 5-0 to Sioux Falls East and Aberdeen was swept by Mitchell 4-2 and 10-2 in a best-of-three series over the weekend. Watertown finished the season 21-37 and Aberdeen 22-23.
As host team, Rapid City Post 22 automatically qualified for the tournament. The other teams won playoff series over the weekend.
The winner of the tournament will advance to the North Central Plains Regional Aug. 3-7 in Rapid City. The region winner will advance to the American Legion World Series Aug. 11-16 in Shelby, N.D.
The state Class B tournament is Friday through Tuesday, Aug. 2 in Gregory. First round pairings follow.
10 a.m.: Hartford/Humboldt (13-11) vs. Winner/Colome (13-6)
30 minutes after Game 1: Redfield (20-8) vs. Milbank (18-7)
5 p.m.: Vermillion (18-9) vs. Dell Rapids (18-7)
30 minutes after Game 3: Platte/Geddes (13-3) vs. Gregory (16-4)
