Watertown blood drives set for January

January is National Blood Donor Month, and local residents have chances to donate blood this month.

Ken Versteeg, executive director of Community Blood Bank, said in a news release that the current blood inventory is down 30% from this time last year.

“We need new donors to enter our blood bank in order to move forward and secure an adequate blood supply for the future,” he said in the release.

Local blood drives scheduled this month include:

  • Jan. 24: Prairie Lakes Healthcare System from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m.

  • Jan. 28: Prairie Lakes Wellness Center from 9 a.m. to noon and 1:30 p.m. to 4:p.m.

Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health. Donors should take IDs with them. For more information or to schedule a donation, visit www.cbblifeblood.org.
