Watertown teams go 3-1, Aberdeen Central squads 2-0 in weekend hoops

RAPID CITY — Watertown High School's boys and girls basketball teams went a combined 3-1 in weekend non-conference games against Rapid City Stevens and Rapid City Central.

The Arrow boys (3-7) beat Stevens 37-29 on Friday and Central 63-41 on Saturday.

Dylon Rawdon tallied 12 points and Caden Beauchamp and Kohen Kranz 10 each for Watertown's boys against Central. Jake Olson added nine, Marcus Rabine seven, Will Engstrom six and Jack Heesch five. Beauchamp also grabbed eight rebounds and Kranz made seven assists.

Cameron Steidley scored 11 points for Rapid City Central.

On Friday, Watertown held Stevens scoreless in the fourth quarter to prevail in a game when it shot only 30 percent (eight of 25) from the field and Stevens 23 percent (11 of 48).

Olson tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Arrows. Rawdon added nine points, Beauchamp six and Kohen and Heesch each five. Beauchamp also added five rebounds.

Dayler Segrist led Stevens with nine points and six rebounds.

Watertown's girls (5-5) salvaged a split of their two games, blasting Central 77-32 on Saturday after losing to Stevens 66-42 on Friday.

Maddy Rohde scored 20 points, Jaida Young 17 and Miranda Falconer 15 for the Arrows. Emery Thury added six rebounds and four assists, Rohde five rebounds and five assists, Young four steals and Falconer four assists.

On Friday, Taaliyah Porter tallied 14 points, Brittany Jones 13, Macey Wathen 12, Izzy Higgins nine and Finley Love eight to lead Stevens past Watertown. Higgins contributed nine rebounds and Porter three assists and five steals.

Rohde and Young each finished with 11 points for Arrows. Falconer pitched in with five points and Thursday six rebounds.

Watertown's girls host Huron at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The boys visit Huron the same night.

Aberdeen Central 68, Brandon Valley 57: The Golden Eagles (2-6) snapped a five-game losing skid with the Eastern South Dakota Conference win. Spencer Barr drained 11 of 19 field-goal attempts, including five 3-pointers and also sank eight of nine free throws in a 35-point performance. Jett Carlson contributed 11, Grant Fritz and Parker Lemer six each and Camden Fauth five. Dylan Langerock scored 18 points and Cole Dekker 11 for Brandon Valley.

Corn Palace Classic: No. 2 Aberdeen Christian rolled past No. 1 White River 87-68 in a battle of top Class B teams. Malek Wieker poured in 29 points, Ethan Russell 23 and Jackson Isakson 14 for Aberdeen Christian (10-0). Kaden Clark added nine points and joined Isakson and Russell with seven rebounds apiece. Joe Sayler's 42 points and seven rounds led White River.

Langford Area 61, North Central 49: The Lions prevailed with 20 points from Jackson Bahr, 16 from Jesse Keough, 14 from Kassen Keough and nine from Rennan Bruns. Bastien Delalande produced 19; points and Cole Bukaske and Spencer Buechler nine apiece for North Central. Buechler also contributed 10 rebounds.

Lyman 75, Sunshine Bible Academy 42: Lyman rolled with 22 points from Cooper Long, 16 from Ryker Choal and 15 rebounds Teagan Gourneau. Nolan Triebwasser and Jensen Wipf carded 10 each for SBA.

James Valley Christian 57, Ipswich 52: The Vikings used 15 points from Landon Wager, 13 from Dax Frandsen, 12 from Landon Wallman and nine from Jerrad Wallman to notch the win. Tyler Hettich had 13 points, Trevor Heinz 13 points and four steals, Blake Rich nine points and eight rebounds, Carter Geditz eight rebounds and Ian Beyers five assists for Ipswich.

Great Plains Lutheran 65, Sioux Falls Lutheran 37: Alex Heil drained five 3-pointers and notched 25 points, four assists and three steals to lead the Panthers. Austin Rubendall followed with 13 points and Hayden Karli and Myles York 11 each. Brody Scharlemann added four steals and four assists.

Aberdeen Roncalli 49, Northwestern 45: Maddox Miller had 12 points, Darwin Gambler 11 and Aiden Fisher nine to lead Roncalli. Quintin Fischbach garnered 12 points and Chase Neiber 10 for Northwestern.

Deuel 54, Tiospa Zina 52: Gavin Benck (17 points, 8 rebounds), Braydon Simon (12 points, 4 assists), Ronnie Begalka (8 rebounds) and Trey Maaland (5 steals) led the way for Deuel in the Northeast Conference game. Storm Sierra collected 21 points and 10 rebounds and Reondre Greeley nine points for TZ.

De Smet 73, Estelline-Hendricks 29: The third-rated Class B Bulldogs won the Dakota Valley Conference game with the help of 17 points and eight rebounds from Damon Wilkinson, 12 points and 11 rebounds from Kasen Janssen and 11 points apiece from Kadyn Fast and Thomas Aughenbaugh. Braxton Pravecek produced seven points, Braxton Saathoff six points and Joseph McAninch five rebounds for Estelline-Hendricks.

Milbank 56, Florence-Henry 53: The Bulldogs prevailed with 15 points apiece from Garrett Mertens and Jaxson Wildung, 11 from Joe Schulte and nine from Yohana Ajwanga. Mehki Keller led all scorers with 28 points for the Falcons. Peyton Roe contributed 12 and Ty Bergh seven.

Castlewood 77, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 25: Fifth-rated Class B Castlewood cruised behind Lane Tvedt's 25 points. Bryon Laue added 10 points and nine rebounds and Jamison Keszler 11 points. Riley Schneider had 10 points for ORR.

Leola-Frederick Area 56, Langford Area 48: Noah Kippley's 13 points and Brayden Sumption's nine sparked LFA. Kassen Keough finished with 15, Jackson Bahr 14 and Jesse Keough 10 for Langford Area.

Ipswich 54, Faulkton Area 30: Trevor Heinz tallied 19 points and Tyler Hettich eight points and four assists for Ipswich. Layne Cotton and Gus Kopecky had eight points apiece for Faulkton Area.

Warner 46, Britton-Hecla 45: Warner used 14 points from Hunter Cramer and nine each from Zachary Evans and Drew Bakeberg to slip past the Braves, who got 25 points from Landon Carlson and 10 from BoDell Davidson.

Waverly-South Shore 58, Wilmot 34: Troy Kneeland garnered 17 points, Landon Maag 12 and Dan Dalton 11 to propel the Coyotes to the Eastern Coteau Conference win. Keitrick Genia tallied nine points and eight rebounds, Dennis Creadon nine points and five rebounds and Taedon Muilenberg six points for Wilmot.

Webster Area 56, Sisseton 42: Matthew Mount tallied 14 points and eight rebounds and Jacob Zeller 13 points to lift Webster Area to the Northeast Conference victory. Nate Tchida collected 22 points, Colter Hanson eight points and five rebounds and Christian Shepherd four assists for Sisseton.

Hamlin 45, Florence-Henry 31: Top-rated Hamlin (11-0) won the battle of unbeatens with 18 points from Kami Wadsworth and 10 each from Brooklyn Brandriet and Ally Abraham. Caylin Kelly collected nine points and eight rebounds and Haley Hlavacek eight points for the Falcons (9-1).

Faulkton Area 49, Highmore-Harrold 43: Paislee Martinmaas produced 19 points and nine rebounds Addison Melius 14 and 16 and Carley Cotton nine points for the winning Trojans. Brooke Palmer notched 22 points and eight rebounds and Addison McDonnell nine points for Highmore-Harrold.

North Central 41, Langford Area 21: Brittney Frickson's 19 points and Amree VanderVorst's 10 rebounds sparked North Central. Ella Batie added seven. Alexa Darling finished with seven points and Megan Gustafson six for Langford Area.

Lyman 62, Sunshine Bible Academy 23: Mak Scott had 17 points and Skyler Volmer 16 for Lyman. Sadie Koneche scored 11 and Abby Hinman eight for SBA, which also got six rebounds from Betra Amare.

Britton-Hecla 55, Waverly-South Shore 17: The Braves won with 12 points from Tiyanna Schott, 11 from Jayden Bender and 10 from Sterling Brassfield. Carlee Mushitz had seven for the Coyotes.

Sanborn Central-Woonsocket 45, Hitchcock-Tulare 42: Liz Boschee tallied 15 points, Kenna Ochsner 12 points and seven rebounds, Kam Ochsner 10 points and Isabel Gilbert eight for SCW. Katelyn Schroeder's 27-point, 11-rebound effort led Hitchcock-Tulare.

De Smet 50, Estelline-Hendricks 44: De Smet won the Dakota Valley Conference game behind Jada Burke's 21 points and Hazel Luethmers' 16. Emma Albrecht followed with nine. Kenzy Beare had 11 points, Madalyn Ebbers 10 and Sadie Johnson nine for the Redhawks.

Lac qui Parle Valley 73, Yellow Medicine East 36: The Eagles rolled with 23 points and six steals from Taylor Shelstad, 12 points from Jayln Lee, 10 points from Camryn Lee. Rylee Lund and Isabel Gerdes each added eight points and six rebounds and Ayanna Gipson seven points, six rebounds and four steals. Hannah Stark led YME with 10 points.

Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 60, Canby 33 (Minn.): Paige Nelson finished with eight points and Lacie DeVos six points and five rebounds for Canby.
