BRANDON — Watertown split a pair of 5-4 decisions in a high school boys tennis triangular on Friday.

After falling to Rapid City Stevens 5-4, the Arrows (5-2 overall) bounced back to down Brandon Valley 5-4.

"We played two good teams today and had some really close matches," said Watertown head coach Ryan Zink. "Mark (Mahowald), Evan (Meester) and Justin (Remmers) played well in singles and Joey (Meester) pulled out a big tiebreaker win against Brandon."

Mahowald, E. Meester and Remmers each recorded singles wins against Stevens and Mahowald teamed with Curtis Sneden for a first-flight doubles win.

E. Meester, Remmers and Joey Meester won singles matches against Brandon Valley. E. Meester-Remmers and Tyler Dingsor-Sam Karst won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively.

"I think our doubles teams are improving, but we definitely need work on being more consistent with volleys and being more active at the net," said Zink."

Watertown is scheduled to host Aberdeen Roncalli and Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Monday in a triangular set to start at 10 a.m. at Highland Park.
