Watertown High School's boys tennis team split two duals and Milbank won its home opener

Watertown High School's boys tennis team bounced back from two losses in a home triangular on Monday to split two duals in another home triangular on Tuesday.

The Arrows (9-5 overall) defeated Sioux Falls Christian 6-3 and lost to Brandon Valley 5-4.

"I was pretty happy with how the doubles teams played today in both matches," said Watertown head coach Ryan Zink. "Singles was a little mixed. We seemed to play pretty well against Christian before struggling against Brandon."

Curtis Sneden, Mark Mahowald, Justin Remmers and Joey Meester notched singles wins against Christian. Sneden-Mahowald and Evan Meester-Remmers each won in doubles.

Evan and Joey Meester each won singles matches against Brandon Valley. Sneden-Mahowald and E. Meester-Remmers each won in doubles.

"We need to play a little smarter at times and when things get tough in matches, find a way to fight through that and get refocused," said Zink.

Watertown is scheduled to host another triangular on Thursday starting at 11 a.m. at Highland Park. The Arrows will meet Yankton at 11 a.m. and Brookings at about 3:30 p.m.

Milbank 7, Pipestone Area 2

MILBANK — Milbank made the most of his first home dual of the season on Tuesday, notching a 7-2 win over Pipestone Area (Minn.) in a high school boys tennis dual.

Joe Schulte, Will Snaza, Charles Whitesitt, Isaiah Korstjens and Dan Shelstad each had singles wins for the Bulldogs. Schulte-Snaza and Greg Grabow-Whitesitt each teamed for wins in doubles.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play Brookings and Harrisburg in a triangular on Friday at Brookings.

Milbank 7, Pipestone Area 2
