Two people injured in five-vehicle crash Friday in Watertown

The Watertown police and fire departments responded to the intersection of Kemp Avenue East and Fifth Street for a report of a five-vehicle crash that resulted in an injury Friday.

About 1:17 p.m., a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Carter Chambers of Bryant collided in the intersection with a 2022 Dodge Charger driven by Pamela Woodbeck of Watertown, according to a news release from the Watertown Police Department,

Chambers was traveling west on Kemp Avenue attempting to cross Fifth Street. Woodbeck was traveling southbound on Fifth Street Northeast. After the initial collision, Woodbeck collided with a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was also southbound on Fifth Street Northeast driven by Jeffrey Schlenker of Sioux Falls, per the release.

Woodbeck then collided head-on with a 2013 Ford F-150 driven by Michael Wagner of Watertown. Wagner was at the stop sign facing East on Kemp Avenue. The impact caused Wagner to be pushed into a 2020 Kia Sorento driven by Dennis Jensen of Summit.

Chambers and Woodbeck were evaluated on scene by Watertown Fire Rescue for minor injuries, according to the release.

Chambers failed to proceed with safe passage across the intersection and was issued a citation for stop sign violation, according to police.

Chambers's and Woodbeck's vehicles were towed from the scene. The other vehicles sustained minor damages.

The vehicle crash is under investigation by the Watertown Police Department.
