Watertown's boys, Aberdeen Central teams to host soccer playoff games

Pairings have been finalized for the South Dakota High School Activities Association's state high school soccer playoffs that open on Tuesday.

The field includes Watertown and Aberdeen Central's boys and girls in Class AA.

• Watertown's boys (8-2-4) are the No. 5 seed and will host No. 12 Rapid City Central (4-6-2) at 5 p.m. Central time. Tuesday at the ANZA Soccer Complex. The Arrows opened the season with a 3-1 win at Rapid City Central.

• Watertown's girls (6-8) are the No. 10 seed and visit No. 7 Rapid City Stevens (10-1-1) at 5 p.m. Stevens notched a 2-1 win over the Arrows early in the season.

• Aberdeen Central's boys (8-2-2) are the No. 7 seed and host No. 10 Sioux Falls Washington (6-4-2) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Brownell Activities Complex. The two teams did not meet in the regular season.

• Aberdeen Central's girls (10-1-1) are the No. 3 seed and host No. 14 Brookings (4-8-1) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Brownell Activities Complex. The Golden Eagles defeated the Bobcats 7-0 during the regular season.

Sioux Falls Roosevelt's girls and Yankton's boys are defending champions in Class AA. West Central's girls and Sioux Falls Christian's boys are two-time defending Class A champions.

Class AA Boys: No. 16 Brandon Valley (2-11-1) at No. 1 Huron (9-1-3), 6 p.m.; No. 9 Yankton (7-4-3) at No. 8 Spearfish (7-4-2); No. 13 Brookings (4-8-1) at No. 4 Sioux Falls Lincoln (9-2-1), 7 p.m.; No. 15 Sturgis (6-7-1) at No. 2 Sioux Falls O'Gorman (10-2-1); No. 14 Harrisburg (3-7-4) at No. 3 Sioux Falls Jefferson (:9-3-1), 7 p.m.; and No. 11 Pierre (7-4-2) at No. 6 Rapid City Stevens (9-2-1), 7:15 p.m. Quarterfinals set for Saturday, Oct. 8; semifinals for Tuesday, Oct. 11 and championship for Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. in Tea.

In Saturday's semifinals, the JVC-Tea Area winner will visit No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian (10-0-3) and the St. Thomas More-Freeman Academy winner will visit No. 2 Vermillion (8-2-1). The championship is slated for Saturday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. in Tea.

Class A Girls: No. 5 St. Thomas More (5-7) at No. 4 Vermillion (4-6-1), 4 p.m.; and No. 6 Dakota Valley (5-8) at No. 3 Sioux Falls Christian (11-2-1). In Saturday's semifinals, the Vermillion-St. Thomas More winner will visit No. 1 West Central (12-0-1) and the SFC-Dakota Valley winner will visit No. 2 Tea Area (10-2-2). The championship is slated for Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. in Tea.
