Watertown's Kahden Mooney announces candidacy for District 5 House of Representatives

Kahden Mooney of Watertown has announced his candidacy for South Dakota’s House of Representatives in District 5, running as a Democrat.

Mooney grew up in South Dakota and is the first member of his family to graduate from college.

"Like many South Dakotans, I have overcome several challenges to reach this milestone. The cost of education, health care and the pursuit of a livable income are constant pressures on hardworking families like mine," Mooney said in his candidacy announcement.

Motivated by a historic need to prioritize compassion, Mooney said he is ready to move South Dakota forward.

"I have dedicated much of my time to the advancement of youth opportunities in the Watertown area, including student athletics, speech and debate, as well as the performing arts. In these programs or in the Legislature, I am thrilled to be a part of the next generation of Dakotans who will shape our state," he said in the announcement..

"I will earn your vote by next November, but I can’t do it without meeting you first. I encourage you to reach out," Moody said.
