Watertown's Ortmeier signs to play softball at Dakota State

Grace Ortmeier (front right), a 2022 Watertown High School graduate, has signed to play college softball at Dakota State University in Madison. Also pictured are her mother Cris (front left), brother Alex (back left) and father Shane (back right). Ortmeier competed in tennis, basketball and track and field at WHS and has played softball with the Roy's Sport Shop Force, Brookings Outlaws and Yankton Fury. Her combined stats with three teams include a .495 batting average, .881 on-base percentage and seven homers. Although primarily a catcher-first baseman, she has played all nine positions on the field. Ortmeier plans to study elementary education at DSU.
