Waverunners continue unbeaten run in pool

WATERVILLE, Ohio — The Bohn Pool Waverunners traveled Tuesday to take on the Fallen Timbers Frogs and remained undefeated with a 457-313 win.

It was the Waverunners' closest dual meet this season.

The meet began with the boys and girls 15-over, 200-yard freestyle where Hadyn Gould won the boys race at 2:11.54.

From there, the meet went to the 8-under and 9-10 100 medley relays where both boys teams won. The team of Sam Betz, Luca Walter, Mason Betz and Marcus Stutzman won the 8-under race (1:54.74) before Colin Krill, Francis DeMeritt, Zander Springer and Rowen Brunk won the 9-10 race (1:37.69).

The 100 medley relay became the 200 as the age division increased and Bohn Pool swept the remaining races.

The 11-12 girls team of Allison Betz, Madison Betz, Taylor Robinson and Genna Branham got things started with a time of 2:37.14. The boys 11-12 team of Santiago Bernal, Owen Salenbien, Lucas Avery and Andrew Betz (2:48.87) and the girls 13-14 team of Allison Marks, Ella Salenbien, Emma Pino and Stella Fisher (2:31.4) swam unopposed.

The boys 13-14 team of Kade Opsal, Jace Ellison, London Rising and Noah Judson (2:11.52) and the girls 15-over team of Kirsten Hess, Eleanora Andre, Emily Hess and Kayla Holt (2:35.08) both won while the 15-over team of Gould, Brayden Kilpatrick, Michael Betz and Garrett Iott (2:08.55) swam unopposed.

The Frogs won the four younger division races of the 100 IM, but the older divisions went to the Waverunners as they won five of the next six races. Robinson won the 11-12 girls race (1:19.63), Owen Salenbien won the 11-12 boys race (1:29.57), Ella Salenbien won the 13-14 girls race (1:15.10), Rising won the 13-14 boys race (1:08.16) and Kilpatrick won the 15-over boys race (1:11.51).

Krill picked up a win in the boys 9-10 50 freestyle (43.86) to end a four-race win streak for the Frogs. Avery won the 11-12 boys race (35.39) before Ella Salenbien picked up her third win in the 13-14 girls race (28.92). Rising won the 13-14 boys race (27.21) and Kilpatrick won the 15-over boys race (28.11) for each of their third wins of the day.

Krill got his third win as he once again ended a Timber Falls streak of wins in the 9-10 boys 50 backstroke (53.46). Bernal won the 11-12 boys race (45.39) while Opsal won the 13-14 boys race (31.04) and Gould won the 15-over boys race (30.07).

The dual went back to the relays as the 100 freestyle got underway where the 8-under boys team of Jaxon Derby, Landon Zehringer, Dominic George Salenbien and Walter won (1:50.81).

The 9-10 girls team of Abigail Thomas, Jalissa Dillard, Cora Yetzek and Abigail Dodge won (1:42.66) as did the boys team of Mason Oaklief, Carson Moyer, Nathan Daniel Santos and Rico Guerrero (1:38.16).

The boys 11-12 team won the 200 freestyle relay as Aaron Saunders, Collin Chase, Adam Beutler and Lucas swam 2:41.83. The 13-14 boys team of Dolan Elliott, Cayden Moyer, Maddox Betz and Josh Thomas won (2:22.93) while the 15-over girls team of Madelynn Ketola, Anna Saunders, Rakell Vazquez and Alexis Marks (3:06.31) and the boys team of Robert Waters, Malachi Ketola, Aiden Ketola and Caleb Branham (2:29.83) swam unopposed.

Fallen Timbers won the first five races in the breaststroke before Owen Salenbien picked up another win in the 11-12 boys 50 breaststroke (49.17) while Ella Salenbien got another win in the 13-14 girls race (37.32).

Opsal won the 13-14 boys race (37.29) while Andre won the 15-over girls race (40.75) and Kilpatrick won the 15-over boys race (35.86).

In the 50 freestyle, Mason Betz won the boys 8-under race (47.86) before Brunk won the 9-10 boys 100 freestyle (1:39.96). Robinson won the 11-12 girls race (1:08.13), before Owen Salenbien won the 11-12 boys race (1:18.31), Rising won the 13-14 boys race (1:01.69) and Michael Betz won the 15-over boys race (1:06.01).

The dual concluded with the butterfly event where Mason Betz won the 25 8-under boys race (26.74) before Avery won the 50 11-12 boys race (39.53), Opsal won the 13-14 boys race (31.58), Emily Hess won the girls 15-over race (32.23) and Gould won the boys 15-over race (29.21).
