A new Japanese restaurant has made its debut in the neighborhood. The fresh arrival to Lakewood, called Waya Japanese Izakaya, can be found at 6334 Gaston Ave.
Waya Japanese Izakaya specializes in classic Japanese dishes. On the menu, look for pork gyoza dumplings, curry bowls, miso soup, spicy edamame, assorted tempura and a list of ramen options.
Waya Japanese Izakaya has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.
Jason W., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Nov. 30, wrote, "Delicious, authentic Japanese izakaya in Lakewood! Pork rib ramen and spicy tonkotsu ramen were perfect. I'm a huge fan of any place that has takoyaki (breaded octopus balls), and there's a good Japanese beer and sake list. The gyoza is prepared just right."
Yelper Ian G. added, “Waya is a excellent addition to Dallas' growing ramen scene, and offers a delicious selection of traditional Japanese fare. ... The miso was well-balanced; the optional spice took it to another level and added a much-needed level of complexity."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Waya Japanese Izakaya is open from 5–10 p.m. on Tuesday-Saturday and from 4–8 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
