Wayne County Auditor provides valuable information with GIS
Did you know that the Wayne County Auditor’s Office has been maintaining a Geographic Information System (GIS) for over 25 years? Wayne County Auditor Jarra Underwood was quick to recognize the vast potential of GIS, thus making it a central component of her office.
“The field of Geographic systems is constantly evolving and is only limited by the imagination of those who use it. We have integrated GIS into nearly every facet of the Wayne County Auditor’s Office,” said Underwood.
SO WHAT IS GIS?A GIS is a system of hardware and software that allows the user to capture, display, and analyze virtually any type of data, giving it a spatial component. Simplified, GIS can map and then analyze any type of information.
WHERE CAN YOU FIND WAYNE COUNTY’S GIS?Wayne County’s public facing GIS can be found at waynecountyauditor.org/map, or by following the MAP link in the upper right corner of the Wayne County Auditor’s website.
WHAT CAN GIS DO FOR YOU?The Auditor’s GIS website provides a tremendous amount of information to the user. Locate your desired location by searching for Address, Owner, or Parcel Number. You can also navigate to the desired location by panning and zooming on the map.
