Wayne County commissioners to sell vehicles, other items via online auction

KEY ACTION Approved a resolution authorizing the disposal of previously used equipment via online auction or other means.

DISCUSSION The items, which are no longer used by the county, will either be thrown away, posted on GovDeals.com for auction or disposed of in other ways. The resolution notes items above $2,5000 will be published for sale in a newspaper.

A Sony DVD-VHS player from the Child Support Enforcement Agency, a mobile printer from the Department of Child Services and a pair of vehicles from the Wayne County Engineer's Office — a 2001 GMC Sierra two-wheel drive truck and a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan — are among items to be sold.

911 dispatcher Mark Bartholomew announces retirement

  • Communications Officer Mark Bartholomew announced his retirement, effective April 14. Bartholomew has served county residents for more than 30 years through the Wayne County Communications 911 Dispatch Center.

  • Approved a resolution awarding a contract for about $211,000 to United Survey of Oakwood Village for wastewater system improvements. The project will address manhole repairs, sewerline replacement and sewer pipe repairs in the Meadows, Hillcrest and Eastwood areas of the county.

  • Approved a resolution awarding a contract to Scott's Lawn Care to help with mowing and landscaping maintenance for multiple properties.

  • Approved a resolution appointing five members to the Wayne County Transportation Improvement District Board of Trustees, including county Administrator Patrick Herron and Planning Director Jenn Kiper, both with a two-year term beginning April 24 and ending April 23, 2025.

  • Approved a resolution with a change in the amount of a contract with Simonson Construction Services for a renovation project in the Adult Probation and Law Library of the Wayne County Municipal Court building, 215 N. Grant St., Wooster. The change in the order subtracted about $34,000, bringing the new total of the contract to about $1.062 million.
