Wayne County election: More candidates file for spring primary

RICHMOND, Ind. — Five Republicans and a Democrat filed Jan. 18-21 as candidates for township office.

Candidates have until noon Feb. 4 to file with the Voter Registration Office on the second floor of the courthouse to be eligible for the May 3 primary election.

Republicans filing for township trustee positions were incumbent Sandra Nocton in Boston Township, incumbent Vicki Chasteen in Center Township and Chris Lane in Jefferson Township.

Republicans filing for township boards were incumbent Scott Stemple in Franklin Township and incumbent Marilyn Sowers in Wayne Township.

Democrat Chad Neal filed for the Jefferson Township board.

The filing period opened Jan. 5, and so far, only one contested primary race has been confirmed. Brad Dwenger is challenging incumbent Ken Paust for the Republican nomination for Wayne County Commissioner District 1.
