Wayne MVC Closed Thursday Following Positive Coronavirus Test

WAYNE, NJ — The licensing center in Wayne Township was closed for cleaning Thursday after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus, New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission officials announced.

Due to "necessary staff quarantines," Wayne's licensing center will operate in an appointment only basis until Monday, Nov. 23. The location reopens for appointments Friday.

The licensing center in South Plainfield was also closed for cleaning Thursday after MVC officials confirmed that, at both locations, a "Saturday-only" employee tested positive for COVID-19.

South Plainfield's licensing center will also be appointment-only until Nov. 23.

Additionally, both locations will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 14, and Saturday, Nov. 21, as Saturday employees are also required to quarantine.

Regular Saturday service will resume at both locations on Nov. 28, officials said.

The Freehold Licensing Center is also closed this Saturday due to staff shortages, and a number MVC centers are closed due to positive COVID-19 tests among employees. They include:

  • Oakland Licensing Center

  • Paterson Regional/Licensing Center

  • Cherry Hill Vehicle Center

  • Runnemede Vehicle Center

  • Trenton Regional/Vehicle Center

  • Eatontown Regional/Licensing Center

  • Bayonne Licensing Center
