It was the photo of a Red Sox bandanna on Grant Hermes’ dog, whom he describes as a Tigers fan, that was the first clue.

The Local 4 News (WDIV-TV) reporter and weekend morning anchor is leaving the station to join the reporting staff of Boston’s 7News (WHDH-TV).

“My wife and I moved to Detroit at the beginning of the pandemic and I can’t thank the amazing people at @Local4News and @clickondetroit (enough) for their kindness they’ve shown us 2,” posted Hermes Thursday on Twitter.

In his Instagram post on the news, Hermes wrote (on behalf of his pooch), "Human, what's a beantown?"

“There is truly no city like Detroit and no community quite like Detroiters in the best possible way. It’s been such a privilege to tell your stories and bring you the kind of news you all deserve. Thank you so much.”

The news adds to the growing list arrivals and departures throughout Detroit media.
