We now know Honkai: Star Rail’s Black Swan will be the 5-star Wind Nihility character Kafka has been waiting for

Black Swan wields the Wind element and follows the Path of Nihility, which means she may be the 5-star damage-over-time character that Kafka players have long been waiting for.

Honkai: Star Rail has finally begun teasing the new playable characters coming in version 2.0 in February next year, starting with the much-anticipated 5-star character Black Swan!

Black Swan wields the Wind element and follows the Path of Nihility, which leads us to believe that she will be the 5-star damage-over-time character that players with Kafka have long been waiting for. With the 4-star Wind Nihility character Sampo already a very good teammate for Kafka, just imagine how good a 5-star like Black Swan will be!

Black Swan first appeared in the "Myriad Celestia Trailer: Fables About the Stars" in May, where she told players about the various Aeons of Honkai: Star Rail.

Black Swan also appeared in the "A Story That Never Grows Dull" trailer, which gave players a sneak peak into another new character in Acheron as well as Penacony, the next planet in the Astral Express' journey across the cosmos.

Black Swan is a Memokeeper of the Garden of Recollection, a faction that worships the Aeon of Remembrance Fuli, and is described as a "mysterious and elegant soothsayer". Black Swan also "feels strongly about collecting unique memories, yet the thoughts that guide her are hard to glean".

Members of the Garden of Recollection surrender their worldly bodies and travel the cosmos in the form of memories to find and collect the most precious memories of the universe's many beings — all in order to preserve the memories of the universe is remembered should it fall to destruction.

Black Swan is also not the first member of the Garden of Recollection that we meet. Our first encounter with them is in the form of the mysterious 'Messenger', an NPC with the body of a woman but with her face hidden behind a mask that introduces the Trailblazer to the Forgotten Hall. Another member of the Garden can also be encountered in March 7th's Companion Quest.

Unlike the Messenger and other Garden of Recollection members we've encountered, Black Swan's face isn't hidden. This may hint at her being a higher-ranking member of the Garden of Recollection and an instrumental character in Honkai: Star Rail's overarching story.

Instead, Black Swan wears a veil and appears more like a fortune teller wearing an elegant purple dress, even using what looks like tarot cards as she talks about the Aeons in the Fables About the Stars trailer.

Black Swan will be voiced by Arryn Zech in the game's English dub, Hitomi Nabatame in the Japanese dub, Yang Menglu in the Chinese dub, and Kim Ha-Young in the Korean dub.

With Honkai: Star Rail version 1.6 expected to be released on 27 December and assuming that it will have the usual 40-day duration, we can expect Black Swan and version 2.0 to arrive in early February 2024.

Honkai: Star Rail is currently in the second half of version 1.5 with the Physical Erudition character Argenti as the banner 5-star character. The second half of this update also feature the debut of the 4-star Physical Harmony character Hanya.

Version 1.6 in December will also see the release of three new characters in Ruan Mei, Dr. Ratio, and Xueyi.
