Wearable children’s thermometer sold by Amazon & Walmart recalled. It burned kids’ chests
You can’t have a much better reason to recall a wearable thermometer than the one BearCare has for pulling the Walnut Wearable Smart Thermometer designed for continuous chest monitoring of children from newborn to 6 years old.
BearCare received “consumer complaints of minor to severe skin burns and skin irritation in children that used the product” the FDA-posted recall notice said.
This involves lot No. 20221115W002 of model No. WT20 sold from December through April on Walmart.com, Amazon.com and Walnutcares.com.
Customers should stop using the thermometer. Check for “any substance leaking from the device’s exterior, any corrosion near the smart sensor on the back of the device” or “a sensation of warming or heat at or near the site or redness and irritation on the skin.”

The notice also warns: “Given the vulnerable population of neonates and infants, other areas of the body should be checked, including the mouth and eyes due to possible transfer of corrosive fluids that may cause chemical burns or toxicity if swallowed. Seek medical care if you or your child were exposed to moisture coming from the device or experience any symptoms related to this device failure.”
