Gray Weekend Weather

Brace for freezing temperatures first thing this morning. The afternoon will be seasonably cool in the low to middle 40s, much lower than the pleasant 50s we had yesterday. Sunshine will stay nice and strong. Although winds will lighten in most of Massachusetts, but the Cape and Islands will continue to see gusts to 25-35 mph.

Saturday doesn’t look great, but it’s the better of the two days. It will be much colder this weekend. Plan on highs in the 30s both days. It will be a cloudy day in eastern MA, but I expect some partly cloudy skies in central and especially western MA.

The South Shore and Cape will see some occasional drizzle. Some of those drops could reach the Boston area with very little measurable rain expected. We’ll have to watch for some light snow mixing in overnight.

The same spots will see more drizzle and flurries Sunday. There may be a dusting on the grass in those communities, but it doesn’t looks like slippery travel will develop right now. A clipper low will approach from the west Sunday evening and increase the risk of widespread snow.

We have an EARLY ALERT for Sunday night to Monday morning for minor accumulation in southern New England. Early estimates are for a coating in eastern MA, and inch or two in central MA, and a few inches in western MA. It should wrap up early Monday morning. Keep in mind, that timeline would affect the early Monday commute.
