In the tropics, all is quiet when it comes to Southwest Florida. The closest system, Tropical Depression 21, is moving into Nicaragua. In the Atlantic, Hurricane Tammy is moving north toward Bermuda.

  • Marine: Hazardous marine conditions develop this afternoon in the Atlantic waters as easterly winds strengthen and will range between 20-25kts with gusts up to 30kts. Seas will rise as high as 7-9 feet. Gulf waters will see 20-25kt winds with higher gusts by this evening.

Persistent easterly flow and increasing swell will result in an ongoing high risk of rip currents for all Atlantic Coast beaches. Additionally, hazardous surf is expected over the east coast beaches in the mid-to-late week period.

Minor coastal flooding is possible around periods of high tide beginning on Wednesday along vulnerable Atlantic coast locations, with the coastal flooding risk continuing into the late week/weekend.

  • High surf: Hazardous surfing conditions are likely due to the increasing winds with surf heights up to 7 feet for all Atlantic beaches.

  • Rip currents: There is a high risk for rip currents for all Atlantic beaches today.

Naples hazardous weather outlook: Wednesday through Monday

Hazardous marine conditions will continue through the end of the work week across the Atlantic and Gulf waters as winds and seas continue to increase and stay elevated.

Strong winds are likely through mid-week and into the late week period.
