Apr. 18—The ECISD AVID program has announced that NBA star Spud Webb will speak to their AVID seniors about his story of overcoming obstacles and inspire them to pursue their dreams at 6:30 p.m. today in the Main Theater at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center.

ECISD has partnered with the AVID program for 15 years, and Complex Community Federal Credit Union has supported the initiative every step of the way, providing opportunities for young people to learn and grow. CCFCU is proud to sponsor this inspirational night with Webb to empower the seniors as they get ready for graduation, a news release said.

Webb is a former Midland College student-athlete, point guard for the Atlanta Hawks, and the 1986 NBA Slam Dunk champion. He always believed that he needed to be taller to succeed in basketball, but he proved that no height is unreachable by achieving success and believing in himself, the release said.
