Webinar will explore how small-business loans

Jun. 5—For small-business owners, taking out a loan sometimes is a necessary step to help their enterprises get started, stay afloat through difficult times or achieve future growth.

Anyone with questions about securing this type of loan might find answers during a June 14 webinar. The program, which takes place from 10 a.m. to noon., has been organized by the Ohio Small Business Development Center at Lakeland Community College.

During the webinar, officials from SBDC, the U.S. Small Business Administration, Growth Capital Corp. and Dollar Bank will explain how to prepare for a loan, where to find help, types of lending programs and how to obtain financing.

Topics to be covered include:

—Preparing to start or grow a business and determining costs

—Developing a business plan

—A banker's perspective on what lenders expect from a loan applicant

—Understanding the loan application process and basic eligibility criteria

—What financial information is needed on a loan application

—SBA loan programs

—United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development Loan Program

—Nontraditional financing options

—Additional free business resources

Presenters for the program are:

—Anita Stocker, business adviser specializing in finance at the Ohio Small Business Development Center at Lakeland Community College

—Thomas Sangrik, specialist in business development and lender relations at the U.S. SBA office in Cleveland

—John Kropf, executive director and president, Growth Capital Corp.

—Deb Krejci, senior vice president and business banking regional manager at Dollar Bank
