Webster man killed in Wayne County crash identified

New York State Police have identified the man killed in a two-car crash in Wayne County on Tuesday afternoon.

Thomas A. Doherty, 62, of Webster died at the scene after two vehicles collided at Route 441 and Canandaigua Road in Walworth around 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, troopers said.

Doherty was a retired Monroe County Sheriff's Office deputy.

An 18-year-old Victor, Ontario County, man was driving north on Canandaigua Road and struck the westbound car that Doherty was driving on Route 441, troopers said.

Doherty's passenger – a 56-year-old woman whose name was not released – was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to State Police. Two teenage girls in the northbound car also suffered minor injuries.

Troopers are investigating the crash.
