Chilton 14, Howards Grove 2

Mosinee 9, Medford 8

MOSINEE - With the game scoreless going into the bottom of the sixth inning, Mosinee unleashed its bats by hitting back-to-back-to-back home runs.

Davin Stoffel connected on the first long ball, then the next pitch Tanner Unertl went deep, followed by Gavin Obremski who hit the third one on a 2-2 count. Mosinee tacked on another run in the inning to go up 4-0.

Keagan Jirschele tossed a gem, giving up only one earned run on five hits and a walk while striking out three over 6⅔ innings.

The wheels fell off with relief pitching in the top of the seventh, however, as the Raiders would score six times to retake the lead temporarily. Mosinee came up clutch in the bottom of the frame with two outs as Obremski drew a walk and Trevor Garski drove a double to the left-center fence to make the score 6-5, then Drake Grod followed with the game-tying single.

After a 1-2-3 top of the 8th, Mosinee loaded the bases in the bottom half with two outs, but this time couldn’t get a run across.

In the ninth, Medford scored twice to once again take the lead, 8-6, but Garski and Grod started the bottom half of a wild inning with back-to-back singles. A sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third with only one out, then a wild pitch scored Garski, followed by a walk and another wild pitch to score Grod. Medford then intentionally walked Jirschele to get to Taylor Lemanski, who got hit by a pitch to load the bases for Stoffel. On a 2-2 count, Stoffel hit a grounder up the middle for the walk-off victory.

Lemanski got the win, tossing the final two innings, giving up two runs on one hit and a couple of walks while striking out three. Mosinee tallied 16 hits as a team on the night, led by Garski and Grod who each had four and an RBI apiece. Stoffel added three hits and two RBIs.

Mosinee improved to 24-3 on the season and will head to sectionals next Tuesday in Abbotsford to take on Altoona at 1 p.m.
