Wednesday's HS roundup: Traip girls basketball team allows 10 points in win

KITTERY, Maine — Senior Hannah Thorsen scored a game-high 12 points and the Traip Academy girls basketball team improved to 4-4 with a 37-10 win over Class B Poland Wednesday night.

Senior Emme Hale added 10 points for Class C Traip, and sophomore Lilly Stuart had seven.

The Rangers allowed five points in the first quarter, held Poland scoreless in the second quarter, allowed two points in the third quarter and three in the fourth.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

NEWMARKET - Ella Gallion had 11 points and Lena Nicholson had 10 for Newmarket (6-2) in this Division IV win. Jillian Long starred defensively for the Mules.

BOYS HOCKEY

Oyster River 3

Spaulding 0

DURHAM - Camden Beaupre, Tyler Rinko and Trey Mason each scored a goal for Oyster River in this Division II win at the Whittemor Center.

Oyster River is now 3-2 on the season, while Spaulding is 0-7.

Cayden Giordani had two assist for the Bobcats, while goalie Cole Hardwood had 22 saves, earning the shutout.

Winnacunnet 7

Dover 3

EXETER - Led by four goals and two assists by junior Brady Thompson, Winnacunnet improved to 5-0 with this Division II win at Philips Exeter Academy.

Winnacunnet's Nolan Rennie, Alex Santora and Brayden Emery all scored a goal. Emery and Noah Andronaco both had two assists, while Drew Marelli, Ian McCormack and Santora all had one.

Owen Culcasi, Jacob Lapierre and Brady McDonough all scored for Dover.

Somersworth/Coe-Brown 7

TYNGSBORO, Mass. - Jon Pelletier had a goal and three assists, and JR Norris had two goals and two assists for Somersworth/Coe-Brown in this Division II win at Skate 3 Ice Arena. Pelletier reached the 100-point club in this game.

Tully Keefe had a goal and an assist for the Bearcats, while teammates Connor Strum, Adam Lacerte and Giovanni Green all scored a goal.

AJ Kozlowski and Kasey Siering both had an assist in the win.

LEBANON - Exeter goalie Charlie Mozina had 15 saves in this Division I loss at Campion Ice Rink.

DOVER -- Brendan Chrisom scored four goals, and had one assist, to lead the Saints to a Division II win over Portsmouth at Dover Ice Arena.

Calvin Dornan, Colin Chrisom, Johnny Resch and Jackson Estes each scored a goal for the Saints.

Ben Purcell scored the lone goal for Portsmouth/Newmarket.

EXETER - Kelly Zhang and Kira Jakobs both had two goals and one assist for the ClipperCats in this Division I win at The Rinks.

Oyster River/Portsmouth broke open a close game with a six-goal second period. Elizabeth Wallent had a goal and an assist for the ClippeCats..

Kate Deans, Eliza Farwell and Maeve Harney all scored a goal in the win. Farwell had two assists, while Deans, Sienna Metcalf, Meagan Rinko, Maggie Farwell, and Mallory DeSantis all had one.

Maddie Mann scored the Exeter goal, assisted by Caitlyn Knowles.

Oyster River/Portsmouth goalie Amelie Cowieson had 12 saves in the win.

ROCHESTER - Jayden Deal, at 126 pounds, won by pin, as did teammates Jackson Morgan (145), and Dylan Gravallese (152) as Spaulding improved to 6-1 on the season.

Also earning wins for Spaulding included Trey Wiley (106, 12-2), Noah Jackson (113, 7-4), Noah Lallas (138, 16-0), Sawyer Goodwin (160, 18-10), Matt Bowley (182, 2-0) and Collin Jacques (120, forfeit).

UNIFIED BASKETBALL

Portsmouth 31

ALTON - Charles Timmons led Portsmouth (2-0) with 19 points. Teammate Riley Willard scored six points, while Adrianna Marcus, Cole Struble, and Jazzy Timmons all had two.

Defensively, Nealey Conlin, Margaux Freer, and Sydney Deorocki shined for the Clippers.

HAMPTON – Michael Murphy and Jacob Waye both scored six points for Winnacunnet (1-1). Mason Anzalone, Claudia Spaulding, Tyler Cote, and Tyler Marino all scored four points. Shane Trombley, Alec Carelli, and Lilli Marchi all scored two.
