Wednesday's scores: Vero boys lacrosse moves on in playoffs, flag football finals set

Will Dunlap scored four goals as Vero Beach used a strong second half performance to knock out Lake Nona 12-5 Wednesday night in the Citrus Bowl in a Region 2-2A quarterfinal.

A physical first half left little between the two teams as Vero held a 4-3 halftime lead with Dunlap netting a pair of goals and Tanner Lenhardt and Ethan Hunt getting on the scoresheet.

Elliot Stevens scored both of his goals for the night in the third period and a late goal from Talen Perez gave Vero Beach (11-5) a 7-3 lead going to the final 12 minutes.

Justin Stolaj scored early in the fourth quarter and Dunlap scored two more goals within the first three minutes of quarter to effectively put away the Lions.

Stolaj was key to the turnaround for Vero Beach, winning 12 of 19 face-offs and also corralled eight ground balls to help limit Lake Nona from gaining extra possessions.
