Wednesday's Top Prep Performers from girls golf league tournaments

Highlights from Wednesday in high school sports:

GIRLS GOLF

  • Led by individual champion Derica Chiu, Oak Park won the team title in three-round Coastal Canyon League tournament. The Eagles finished perfect in league and won the league tournament for the third straight season. Oak Park had a team total of 558, with rounds of 186, 184 and 188. The first round was played at Sterling Hills Country Club on Oct. 13 with the final two rounds at Soule Parke Golf Course on Wednesday. Chiu had rounds of 30, 32 and 37 to finish with a 99 total to win the individual crown and earn league MVP honors. Lily Huynh of Oak Park was second with a 102. Kiley Reisner of Simi Valley was third with a 106 and teammate Aidan McCleneghan was fourth with a 108. Joanna Hong of Oak Park was fifth with a 113 and Jiya Dalal of Simi Valley took sixth with a 114. The top-six finishers earned first-team all-league honors. Kira Reisner of Simi Valley placed seventh with a 115 and Sailor Graham of Oak Park was eighth with a 120. Camarillo's Savannah Bennett and Me Li Root tied for ninth with a 122. Simran Nadig of Oak Park was 11th with a 125. The 7th-11th finishers earned second-team all-league honors. Chiu, Hunyh, Kiley Reisner, McCleneghan, Hong, Dalal, Kira Reisner, and Graham all qualified for the CIF-Southern Section Northern Individual Regional Tournament to be played next Wednesday at Los Robles Greens Golf Course in Thousand Oaks. Simi Valley finished second as a team with a 578 total, followed by Camarillo (670), Moorpark (773) and Royal (837).

  • Mary Heldwein earned medalist honors by shooting a 40 as Nordhoff won the fourth and final round of the Citrus Coast League tournament at par-34 Saticoy Regional Golf Course. The Rangers went unbeaten in league, secured their fourth straight league championship and qualified for the CIF-SS Division 3 team tournament to be played Oct. 31 at Los Serranos Country Club. Heldwein won the individual league title and earned league MVP honors. Riley Reid shot a 46 for Nordhoff, which finished the final round with a team total of 248. Sofia Manzano shot a 44 for second-place Santa Paula (256). Paula Quiatchon shot a 47 for third-place Hueneme (260). Sophia Sabag had a 44 for fourth-place Malibu (280). Presley McClain had a 52 for fifth-place Fillmore (291). Ruby Lopez shot a 56 for sixth-place Channel Islands. Jamaica Cook shot a 43 for seventh-place Carpinteria (313). Heldwein, Quiatchon (2nd overall), Cook (3rd) and Manzano (4th) all qualified for the CIF-SS Northern Individual Regional Tournament to be played next Wednesday at Los Robles Greens Golf Course in Thousand Oaks. Santa Paula and Hueneme finished tied for second place in the league standings.
