Wednesday's Top Prep Performers from volleyball, cross country, water polo, golf, tennis

Highlights from Wednesday in high school sports:

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

  • Abby Montana had 12 kills and four blocks, Olivia Campisi finished with nine kills, 13 digs and three blocks, Alex Morehead had five kills, 14 digs and two blocks, Kezia Bocasan compiled 36 assists and 10 digs, Camdyn Hodgins had 19 digs, and Marcy Menchaca added four kills and two blocks as Simi Valley (13-5, 4-0) defeated Royal 20-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-12 in a showdown for first place in the Coastal Canyon League. Emily Ford had 11 kills, Bea Gamboa had seven kills and 10 digs, and Leah Orsini finished with 21 digs and three aces for the Highlanders (18-6, 3-1).

  • Moorpark defeated Camarillo in five sets, 25-15, 19-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-10, in a Coastal Canyon League match.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

  • Sadie Engelhardt finished first overall in 19:35.94, Aelo Curtis was second in 19:36.48 and Melanie True took third in 19:37.12 to lead Ventura to a first-place team finish at the first Channel League meet of the season at Lake Casitas. Ellie Gleason of second-place Dos Pueblos placed fourth in 19:58.08. Shaina King of third-place San Marcos was fifth in 20:09.49. Ventura’s Caroline Von Gunten was sixth in 20:14.51 6 and Carla Nava finished seventh in 20:15.03. Anna Dahlquist of sixth-place Rio Mesa placed eighth in 20:16.91. Bailey Burman of Ventura was ninth in 20:20.47 and Phoebe Wolfe Lyons of Dos Pueblos took 10th in 20:31.22. Isabella Bietsch finished 11th in 20:57.43 for fourth-place Oxnard. Mackenna Show was 16th in 21:27.45 for fifth-place Santa Barbara. Andrea Garcia placed 20th in 21:34.63 for seventh-place Buena. Marisol Mohedano was 42nd in 24:37.07 to lead eighth-place Pacifica.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

  • Micah Grossman took first place overall with a time of 15:32.74 to help Ventura finish first as a team at the first Channel League meet of the season at Lake Casitas. Nick DeGeorge was fifth in 15:40.12, Henry Hammel was sixth in 15:50.53, and Hollis Costa placed ninth in 16:13.50 for the Cougars. Nicholas Weinerth finished second overall in 15:34.64 for fifth-place Rio Mesa. Eamon Gordon was third in 15:34.73 for third-place Dos Pueblos. Andreas Dybdahl finished fourth in 15:39.65 for second-place Santa Barbara. Michael Torres placed seventh in 15:56.78 for fourth-place Buena. Santa Barbara’s Blaise Snow was eighth in 16:02.07 and Tyler Jamieson of Dos Pueblos was 10th in 16:19.16. Bryan Edgar was 17th in 16:48.27 for sixth-place San Marcos. Alexzander Gomez was 22nd in 17:13.09 to lead seventh-place Oxnard. Anthony Rodriquez was 48th in 19:53.58 to lead eighth-place Pacifica.

BOYS WATER POLO

  • Nico Furneaux scored 12 goals and Jack Pointner had eight goals to lead Buena to a 23-6 win over Oxnard in a Channel League game.

  • Royal defeated Moorpark 18-12.

  • Camarillo defeated Thousand Oaks 27-2.

GIRLS GOLF

  • Lillian Spratt was the medalist with a 37 and Mathea Sagel shot a 38 to lead Agoura (8-1) to a 212-242 win over Buena in a nonleague match at par-36 Olivas Links Golf Course. Meg Hampton finished with a 43, Annabelle Shilley birdied the final two holes and shot a personal-best 44, and Avery Wells had a 46 for the Bulldogs.

GIRLS TENNIS

  • Oak Park defeated Simi Valley 13-5 to improve to 2-0 in the Coastal Canyon League.
