Week 1 vs. Ravens named biggest game for Raiders during 2021 season

The Raiders are going to be in the national spotlight a ton during the 2021 season. They have three primetime games and will play on Thanksgiving against the Dallas Cowboys. They also have several “big” games that will happen in the late-afternoon time slot that should garner a ton of attention.

But arguably their “biggest” game for the season will happen in Week 1 when they host the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football. It will be the only Monday night game this season in Week 1 and it will be the first time ever that fans fill Allegiant Stadium.

In a recent article by The Athletic, each beat writer wrote about the “must-see” game for each team entering the 2021 season. For the Raiders, that was none other than their Week 1 matchup against the Ravens. Here is what Tashan Reed had to say about that contest:

“The season-opening game also fills this slot. While the Raiders played at Allegiant Stadium last season, fans weren’t allowed. Theoretically, all 65,000 seats could be filled for their home opener against the Ravens on “Monday Night Football.” Las Vegas will be 0-0, so its fans should still be buzzing with plenty of optimism, and even casual onlookers should be all-in on the spectacle of the $2 billion stadium. It doesn’t get much better than that.”

Not only is the timeslot and stage great for the Raiders, but they will also be facing a really strong opponent in the Ravens. Baltimore has made the playoffs in three straight years and they have one of the most dynamic players in the league in Lamar Jackson.

Starting the season off with a win against a Super Bowl contender would be quite the accomplishment for the Raiders. Doing it on a national stage would be quite fun, as well. Needless to say, Monday Night Football in Week 1 is going to be must-see TV.
