Week 3 Fort Worth football roundup: Colleyville Heritage, Everman and more secure wins

Colleyville Heritage 10, Ennis 7

A 10-point second quarter ahead of a third quarter lightning delay was enough for Colleyville Heritage in a 10-7 win over Ennis. Continuous lightning delays forced the pre-district matchup to end early before the second half could begin.

After Ennis (0-3) took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter, Heritage (2-1) got on the board midway through the frame on a 24-yard field goal by Ryan Zuckert.

Heritage’s defense forced a turnover on downs on Ennis’ next possession and went ahead with 1:02 remaining in the half after a touchdown run from 10 yards out by Luke Ullrich.

Ullrich finished with 13 carries for 71 yards before the game was called.

Saginaw Boswell, Haltom Ruled No Contest

As lightning affected nearly every game in the DFW Metroplex, the matchup between Boswell and

Haltom was ruled no contest with 3:30 remaining in the first quarter. Boswell was up 6-3 after a Haltom field goal just before the storms and lightning rolled through the area.

Mercy Culture 40, Cumby 24

A 28-point second quarter propelled Mercy Culture to a 40-24 win over Cumby in a weather-shortened, non-district tilt on Friday. The first quarter ended with the score tied at 6 as the Royals (3-0) missed a PAT after a touchdown and Cumby (0-3) failed on a two-point try.

In the second quarter, it was all Royals as it scored 21 straight points on three passing touchdowns – one from Grabriel Bosch and two from Landon Martinez – to go up 27-6. Cumby halted the run to make the score 27-12 but Mercy Culture added another Landon Martinez touchdown throw to go into the half up 34-12.

The Trojans closed the gap to 34-24 with back-to-back scores midway in the third but the Royals tacked on the final score of the night on a touchdown run from Noah Darden.

The game was called at the end of the third quarter due to lightning delays.

Everman 41, Denton 14

A 20-point first quarter gave Everman enough cushion to take down Denton 41-14 in weather-shortened

action on Friday. The teams traded touchdowns in the second quarter to give the Bulldogs (2-1) a 34-14 lead at the half, and Everman tacked on another touchdown in the third before the lightning halted play.

The game concluded after continuous delays to give the Bulldogs the bounceback win.

Fort Worth Wyatt 21, Dunbar 8

Another area game ended prematurely as Wyatt (3-0) picked up the 21-6 win over Dunbar (1-2).
