Week 4 Cape Cod high school football scores and highlights

The first month of high school football is coming to a close.

Earlier on Friday, teams found out where they stood in the first edition of the MIAA tournament power rankings. But before we get to the tournament, October is all about league-title races. This week marks the first of league games for some teams and the end of non-league play for others.

There's several Cape vs. Cape matchups to monitor this week.

Friday, Sept. 30

Dennis-Yarmouth 26, Nantucket 14: The Dolphins improved to 2-2 while the Whalers fell to 0-4. Senior Wyatt Stevens caught a touchdown and connected for a trick play touchdown pass to help the Dolphins offense in the win. Defensively, the Dolphins recovered two fumbles and stopped a fake field goal to aid in the victory. Jayden Barber was 14 of 20 passing for a pair of TDs and one interception. Jake Bohlin hauled in five catches for 79 yards. Jake Arsenault added a 30-yard rushing TD while Peyton Kellett had five catches for 51 yards. Nantucket got touchdown runs from Jayquan Harris and Kareem Maxwell to fuel its offense.

Barnstable 28, Durfee 14: The Red Hawks (1-3) picked up their first win of the season. Aiden Kundel was 16 of 22 passing for 266 yards and three TDs while also rushing for 60 yards. His favorite target was Tajardo France (nine catches for 118 yards and a TD), who also ran 12 times for 100 yards and a TD. Defensively, Jake Mooney made 15 tackles and added two QB sacks.

Sandwich 44, Martha's Vineyard 7: The Blue Knights (2-2) get back to the .500 with the win. Brady Carroll scored three TDs and needed just six carries to tally 101 yards rushing. Adam Ferreira was 6 of 7 passing for 90 yards and a pair of TDs.

Holbrook/Avon 44, Cape Tech 20: Sean Gillette ran for a pair of 2-yard TDs, but the Crusaders (1-3) lost on the road. Rovens Jean ran for a 40-yard TD and Matt Riker recovered a punt in the end zone.

Fairhaven 48, Bourne 6: The Canalmen fall to 1-3.

Falmouth 14, Nauset 13: The Clippers improve to 2-1 while the Warriors fall to 2-2.

Saturday, Oct. 1

Old Colony 30, Upper Cape Tech 6: Noah Demoranville ran for 90 yards and had the Rams lone TD. Landon Fleck added 40 yards receiving while Jeshua Pandeso threw for 65 yards.

Monomoy 14, St. John Paul II 6: Dillon Chapman scored both TDs for the Sharks (3-1), including the go-ahead score with 25 seconds remaining.
