Apr. 8—Final games, for some teams perhaps only regular-season finales, involving Union Pines, North Moore and Pinecrest have been moved up to this evening.

Union Pines (3-3) at Western Harnett (0-6) — 6:30 p.m.

Union Pines and Western Harnett meet to finish their seasons tonight.

It's been a season of alternating ups and downs, quite exactly, for the Vikings who beat Southern Lee 40-7 two weeks ago, then lost 60-27 to Triton last Thursday to go to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the Tri-County 6.

The best combo for the Viking offense has been junior QB Micah Monaghan, with 997 passing yards and six TD passes, and freshman WR Ethan Biggs, who has 32 catches for 611 yards and five TDs.

Union Pines won the last meeting 60-7 in Nov. 2019.

Chatham Central (1-2) at North Moore (3-3) — 6:30 p.m.

The Mustangs, having won three of their last four games, are still vying to finish third in the Yadkin Valley and be alive for a wild card spot into the 1A state playoffs.

Chatham Central had an abbreviated season cut even shorter with changes and cancellations. The Bears started the season with a 6-0 victory vs. Albemarle but have been able to play only two games since.

Isaiah Cassidy and Brian Loza Gomez have four TD runs each for the Mustangs. Justis Dorsett has seven total TDs from a kick return, an interception, as a running back and a receiver.

The Bears beat North Moore 38-20 to finish the 2019 season.

Pinecrest (4-2) at Seventy-First (2-3) — 6 p.m.

The Patriots had won three straight games and had a likely path to a postseason spot until falling 21-7 to Jack Britt last week.

Now, the Patriots need a win this evening at Seventy-First and some help to finish third in the SAC and possibly get a wild card spot to keep playing next week.

Pinecrest beat Seventy-First 20-6 in 2019.
