Not the best week for either Jake Furr or myself in Week 7. We both missed Colonel Crawford's shocking loss to Upper Sandusky, while Jake picked against Galion and I picked against Wynford to make for a pair of 3-2 records. It brings Jake's season record to 32-6 while I'm at 28-10 — and time is running out.

We have a fresh slate of games in Crawford County this week with a couple of tricky ones from which to choose.

So, without further ado, let's get to picking!

Colonel Crawford at Wynford

ZH: The Battle for the Iron Plow is one of the biggest games of the season in Crawford County — if not THE biggest. Wynford comes in on a two-game win streak after starting 0-5 while Crawford had dropped back-to-back games to Wyandot County opponents Carey and Upper Sandusky. Though the Royals are in better recent form, I think the Eagles will be out to prove a point, and there's no better way to do it than against your rival on the road.

JF: I couldn't believe the loss to Upper Sandusky last week. I thought I nailed that pick, but that is why the game is played on the gridiron and not on paper. I like Colonel Crawford to bounce back to true form this week. That loss to Upper made them free fall in the playoff rankings, so the Eagles will be out to prove why they belong in the top four this week. Wynford has a pair of nice wins in the last two weeks, but Crawford is on a different level than Bucyrus and Buckeye Central.

Galion at Highland

ZH: This might be the game of the week in terms of quality. These are two of the best in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference, boasting explosive offenses and defenses capable of making big plays when called upon. Dane Nauman is probably the best running back north of Columbus and will be virtually impossible to stop. But the Tigers just need to slow the dynamic back to have a shot, and I think they're capable of doing that, even in Marengo.

Galion 35, Highland 28

JF: This is Galion's chance to get back in the MOAC title race. A win over Highland would keep the Tigers a game behind Clear Fork in the race, with the Colts still needing to play the Scots and Shelby in the final two weeks. So anything can, and likely will, happen. Marengo is a tough place to play — Shelby found that out last week — and Galion is going to have its hands full with Dane Nauman. As much as I would like to see the MOAC standings thrown into chaos, I think Week 10 will be the deciding game.

Highland 44, Galion 21

Carey at Bucyrus

ZH: Carey has won 22 consecutive games while Bucyrus has lost its last five. Even at home, I don't see Bucyrus giving the Blue Devils much of a battle for more than maybe a quarter. This is a defense unlike anything Bucyrus has seen so far, and that'll pave the way for countless offensive possessions.

Carey 56, Bucyrus 7

JF: The Blue Devils train keeps on rolling after a state title last year and, unfortunately, Bucyrus will be standing on the tracks on Friday night. Carey is just on a different level than anyone in the area.

Carey 52, Bucyrus 0

Buckeye Central at Upper Sandusky

ZH: The Bucks are on a four-game skid, having just lost to county foe Wynford. Meanwhile, the Rams are coming off their biggest win in program history, beating bitter basketball rival Colonel Crawford on the Eagles' home turf in overtime. I think Buckeye Central can definitely make this one interesting, but Upper is on such a high right now that I think will be tough to bring the Rams down from it.

Upper Sandusky 49, Buckeye Central 32

JF: This week will prove if Upper's win over Colonel Crawford was legit or just one of those things. The Rams have all the momentum in the world and it could be key to whether or not they want to make a playoff push or not. The Bucks have a chance to pick up a signature win, but I think the Rams get it done.

Upper Sandusky 35, Buckeye Central 21

Hardin Northern at Crestline

ZH: Next week is when I'll try to pick the Bulldogs and make up ground on Jake even though it'll probably end up clinching the title for him. Polar Bears roll in this one.

Hardin Northern 63, Crestline 8

JF: Tough year for Crestline.
