Week in art: Marshall Fire paintings, NAACP art up at Boulder galleries

Marshall Fire art exhibit at Canyon Gallery: Opening Friday, painter Anne Gifford will display her work with the exhibit "A Tribute to Marshall: Painting My Way Through Healing," where she uses art to explore her loss and grief. Each painting or giclee print is accompanied by post-fire photographs as well as the backstory behind the artwork; on display through April 24 on the Arapahoe Ramp; Main Library, 1001 Arapahoe Ave., Boulder; boulderlibrary.org/exhibits.

NAACP exhibit at Dairy Arts Center: Local artist Adderly Grant-Lord is using visual experiences in hopes to lead to conversations as she guest curates "Black Futures in Art: We're Not Just History," an NAACP Boulder County exhibition. With work from eight artists on display in the Creative Nations Sacred Space, Grant-Lord said she aims to "provoke introspection and to see the Black folk in Boulder and around the world, past and present reality through the felt and lived experience from the perspective of the artist," in the exhibit statement. Also opening at the Dairy is "Fan Mail 2.0," featuring works from artists in the collective Hyperlink, and will host an opening reception 5-8 p.m. Feb. 3; 2590 Walnut St., Boulder; thedairy.org.
