Looking for some fun this weekend in the Augusta area? Miller Theater in downtown Augusta is featuring musical performances from Grammy-winning jazz trumpeter Chris Botti and the rock 'n' roll tribute band Hairball. It will also be the site of a winterwonderland with a "Circus On Ice" from Taconhy Entertainment. For those looking for a different kind of art form, the Morris Museum's annual gala and a new art exhibition are scheduled for this weekend. Here are more details on these and other upcoming festivities:

Concerts

Country superstars Tracy Lawrence and Clay Walker bring their hits to the Bell Auditorium stage this Saturday, March 5. Throughout the year, Lawrence has celebrated three decades of music by releasing "Hindsight 2020," a three-volume album. The latest part, "Vol. 3: Angelina," was released in late January. Walker's hits include “Live Until I Die” and “This Woman And This Man.” His latest single “Need A Bar Sometimes” is pulling in millions of viewers on YouTube. Chris Botti will be playing at the Miller Theater at 7:30 p.m. Friday. He won the 2012 Grammy for "Best Pop Instrumental Album" for his album "Impressions."

Relive the lights and sounds of arena rock shows when Hairball plays at the Miller on Saturday at 7 p.m. Some of their inspirations include Van Halen, KISS, Motley Crue, Queen, Journey and Aerosmith; and their music has all of the same costumesand flair of these beloved rock acts.

The Miller is located at 708 Broad St. Tickets can be bought online for both shows at millertheateraugusta.com.

Next week, Celtic Woman returns to Bell Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, with its popular show featuring Irish dancers accompanied by bagpipers and traditional Irish instruments.

Circus on Ice

The Imperial Theatre's stage will be transformed into an ice rink this weekend. Taconhy Entertainment's "Circus on Ice" will perform Saturday at 3 and 5:30 p.m. The show features entertainment like jugglers, fantastical characters, hula hoops and professional skating. Tickets can be bought online at imperialtheatre.com or at the box office at 745 Broad St.

Art events

The Morris Museum of Arts 29th annual Gala begins at 7 p.m. Friday. The black-tie event features an evening of food, entertainment and dancing celebrating the exhibition "Immersed in the Seasons: Paintings by Luke Allsbrook." Raffle tickets and serigraphs can be purchased for the artwork. For more information, go to themorris.org.

Sacred Heart Cultural Center is hosting an art exhibition with works by Laura Duke and Kate Gary Lloyd beginning with an opening reception from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, March 3. The exhibit will be open to the public March 4-April 29 in the art hall, which is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, go to sacredheartaugusta.org.

Learn from the past at museum

Remember, the Augusta Museum of History's "Voices of the Past" theater program is offered Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This weekend's event will headline a re-enactment of "The Other Tubmans" a story that explains the connection between local Tubman slaves freed by Emily Tubman in the 1830s and William Tubman, who served as the longest running president in Liberia, Africa, from 1944 to 1971.

Wrapping around the story will be a history movie, more story time, and an African drumming demo plus drumming workshops. The Voices of the Past event is free with admission to the museum on Reynolds Street.

Hot tickets

TIckets are now on sale for the Major Rager to be held April 9 at the Sharon Jones Amphitheater in North Augusta. The concert, now in its 10th year as a Masters Week offering, will feature Athens-based rock band Future Birds. Tickets start at $30 at fwbpro.com.

In Harlem

The 2nd annual Small Business Expo will be at the Harlem Library on North Louisville Street from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Small businesses will serve as vendors at the library, offering food, activities, music and merchandise.
