The annual 816 Day, named after Kansas City’s area code and celebrated Aug. 16, will include live entertainment and other events in downtown and the City Market.

Among the highlights will be a free Garment District Grooves concert with Billy Ebeling at Eighth and Broadway (11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.), happy hour in the PNC Plaza (3-5 p.m.) and free performances by Soundz of Samba, Circus Scorpius and Underground Homies at the City Market (5:30-8 p.m.). Some businesses will offer specials priced at $8.16.
