This past week was a big one for fans of longtime Fox 2 anchors Huel Perkins and Monica Gayle. They've each spent at least 40 years in the business and on Friday, they gracefully said their goodbyes and went into retirement together, as a team.

Our entertainment reporter Julie Hinds spent time talking to them both about going through parenthood together (their kids went to the same schools), how they plan to spend retirement and their secret to longevity as an anchor team.

As Huel Perkins says goodbye, Detroiter Kevin Fite says it was the Fox 2 anchor who changed his life in an intervention at the Meijer meat counter 30 years ago.

"And here he was, caring enough about me to give me personal advice from his heart. He always had my trust," Fite said.
