STORY: From storm clouds gathering over Evergrande, to why Meta thinks it’s time for mixed reality, this is The Week in Numbers.

81% is the slump in shares for embattled Chinese property developer Evergrande since trading in the stock resumed last month.

The stock plunged again, and was later re-suspended, after news that chairman Hui Ka Yan had been put under police watch.

It all added to jitters over what might happen if the giant firm went under.

$90 billion could be the value put on ChatGPT-maker OpenAI.

That’s according to the Wall Street Journal, which says the firm plans a sale of existing shares.

If confirmed, that would be three times the valuation put on OpenAI just a few months ago.

Up to $4 billion is how much Amazon is investing in AI startup Anthropic.

That as it bids to catch up with ChatGPT.

The e-commerce giant says the deal would give cloud customers early access to Anthropic’s tech.

$500 is the starting price for Meta’s new headset.

Boss Mark Zuckerberg says it’s a breakthrough in bringing mixed reality to the mass market:

“Quest 3 is the most powerful headset that we have ever shipped and it allows you to blend the physical and digital worlds together.”

Meta also unveiled new smart glasses and a host of AI chatbots.

And $500 is also the cost for one particular pair of sneakers,

which helped set a new women's marathon world record this week.

Adidas is testing how far it can push prices with a new model.

What’s more, the Adizero Pro Evo 1 shoes are only meant to last the length of one marathon.

That works out at about $19 per mile.
