This weekend in Anchorage: Blue Man Group, the Kingston Trio and The Nutcracker

Anchorage was hit with a blast of snowfall this week, clogging streets and canceling classes. But the city should be back in business for a packed weekend of events. There are performances of "Little Women" and "The Nutcracker" plus old favorites like the Blue Man Group and Kingston Trio.

The Nutcracker: 7 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m./5 p.m. Saturday, Discovery Theatre, 621 W. Sixth Ave.

A performance of E.T.A. Hoffmann's story with the classic P.I. Tchaikovsky music, this local production brings the Land of the Sweets to life. Tickets for the show start at $38.50.

Little Women: 7:30 p.m. Friday/Saturday; 4 p.m. Sunday, UAA Fine Arts Building, 3700 Alumni Drive

The Perseverance Theatre and UAA Department of Theatre and Dance present the play based on the classic Louisa May Alcott novel. The play will be closing next weekend as well, with two ASL performances scheduled for Dec. 16 and 17. Tickets are $50 for Friday and Saturday and $35 for the Sunday showing.

Blue Man Group: 8 p.m. Friday; 2 p.m./8 p.m. Saturday; 2 p.m./7:30 p.m. Sunday, Atwood Concert Hall, 621 W. Sixth Ave.

Performance art super-group Blue Man Group has been wowing audiences for decades. Their show "features pulsing, original music (and) custom-made instruments" like a paint drum and the drumbone. Tickets start at $60 while subscription tickets start at $46.

907 Wrestling Wreck the Halls: 3 p.m. Saturday, Arctic Rec Center, 4855 Arctic Blvd.

Jet Lucas became the new 907 champ last month after defeating AJ Radical and may make his first appearance as champion. Other matches include Alaska tag team champions Team Payne against a team of Hawaii wrestlers. General admission tickets are $15.

Kingston Trio: 7 p.m. Sunday, Wendy Williamson Auditorium, 2533 Providence Drive

The Kingston Trio hit the scene in the late '50s and early '60s, spearheading the American folk music revival. The group won a pair of Grammy awards during those years and the trio has continued for decades, playing hits like "Tom Dooley" with shifting lineups. Tickets for the show start at $55.
