Feb. 16—This weekend is packed with winter activities in Anchorage. From Ski 4 Kids to Skate with Shani, there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor gatherings. If enjoying winter indoors is your thing, you can check out the Winter Classics concert series presented by the Sitka Music Festival. And for those dreaming of summer, the Anchorage Boat Show runs all weekend.

Winter Classics: noon Friday, Anchorage Museum, 625 C St.; 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 4 p.m. Sunday, UAA Recital Hall, 3700 Alumni Drive

Presented by the Sitka Music Festival, this weekend of events includes concerts Friday through Sunday at the UAA Recital Hall with the Arianna String Quartet and cellist Zuill Bailey acting as the featured performers, playing pieces by Dvorak, Mozart, Beethoven and other composers. Tickets available through CenterTix cost up to $41, with discounts available for students, seniors and children. Another performance Friday at the Anchorage Museum contains portions of those selections, and is free with museum admission.

Totally 80s Drag Brunch: noon Sunday, Williwaw Social, 609 F St.

Hosted by Lamia Monroe and Penny Dragful, this 1980s-themed gathering includes special guests Lola Monroe, Scarlett Crypt and Frankie Doom. Tickets are $15 or $100 for VIP tables.

International Guitar Night XXIII: 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Discovery Theatre, 621 W. Sixth Ave.

Global guitar phenoms unite for the annual gathering now in its 23rd year. This year's lineup includes 2021 Juno Award winner for Jazz Album Of The Year Jocelyn Gould, flamenco master Jesus Guerrero, contemporary classical guitarist Stephanie Jones and Finnish guitarist Olli Soikkeli. Tickets start at $44.

Skate with Shani: 6-8 p.m. Friday, Cuddy Family Midtown Park, 201 E. 40th Ave.

Olympic speed skating champion Shani Davis is in Anchorage this weekend for multiple events. The best chance to get to hang out and get photos or autographs with Davis is at this free family event at Cuddy Park. All types of skates and skaters are welcome.

Ski 4 Kids: noon-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Kincaid Park, 9401 W. Raspberry Road

This annual event hosted by the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage draws hundreds of children under age 14 who come to Kincaid Park to ski races, obstacle courses, biathlon and more. Ski 4 Kids registration is free, but donations are welcome to help make sure all kids, regardless of family income level, have access to cross-country ski programs and equipment.

Anchorage Boat Show: noon-7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Dena'ina Center, 600 W. Seventh Ave.

If you can't wait to get out on the water this summer, the boat show might be a place to visit this weekend. Everything from sales to safety training will be featured at the show. General admission is $10 and kids 12 and under are admitted free.

Matanuska Valley Sportsmen's Gun Show: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Alaska State Fairgrounds, 2075 Glenn Highway in Palmer

The Matanuska Valley gun show is among the biggest in the state with more than 200 8-foot tables in Raven Hall. All federal, state and local firearm laws and ordinances must be followed. Admission is $7.

Bettye Davis African American Summit: 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School, 4025 E. Northern Lights Blvd.

This free event is a forum for the Black community to educate policymakers and the public on addressing issues in the BIPOC community and developing solutions. Focused on health and equity, the summit is now in its fourth year. Register to attend.
