What to do this weekend: Bike the Open Streets; Enjoy Autumn & Art; Choose a Latin fest

It’s like all the Wichita organizations picked the same weekend for their big events. Good luck deciding this weekend between Open Streets, Autumn & Art, Kansas Railfest and a couple of Hispanic Heritage Month events, which are all going on at the same time.

Here’s a rundown of the many big events scheduled outdoors in Wichita this weekend:

Open Streets on Douglas

Noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Douglas from Glenn to Bluff

Open Streets, the big annual street party that shuts down 4.1 miles of Douglas to traffic and fills it with bikers, walkers, live music, dancing, yoga demos, street vendors and food, returns for its fall installment on Sunday. The event will happen from noon to 5 p.m. on Douglas from Bluff Street in College Hill to Glenn Street in Delano. Several stops along the way will be hubs for activity, including Kennedy Plaza in front of Century II, Naftzger Park, East High School and College Hill Park. Admission is free. Autumn & Art 14

Friday through Sunday, Bradley Fair Parkway, 21st and Rock

The annual Autumn & Art festival put on by Wichita Festivals Inc. returns this weekend and will be set up Friday through Sunday on Bradley Fair Parkway, just east of the Bradley Fair shopping center at 21st and Rock. The event, an outdoor art show and sale featuring art for sale and art-inspired activities, starts Friday with a $150-a-person patron party that lasts from 6 to 9 p.m. and includes food, drink and live music. Admission is free from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, when attendees can shop, play lawn games and catch live entertainment and music. A group called Grassland Groupies is introducing a new event in Wichita: ICT Bee Fest is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mid-America All-Indian Museum.
